83 teaser: Ranveer Singh-starrer accurately recreates history

The teaser of Kabir Khan’s long-awaited 83, which tells the tale of the Indian cricket team's 1983 World Cup victory, depicts a pivotal moment in the final match of the tournament, where India and the West Indies went head to head. 

The legendary batsman from the West Indies Vivian Richards was the most prized wicket which opened the floodgates for India in the final. The teaser shows how he was caught at midwicket by Kapil Dev (Ranveer Singh) from the bowling of Madan Lal (Harrdy Sandhu). 

The video finely captures not only the goings-on on the pitch but also the mood of the spectators. The video stops just when Dev is about to take the catch, which works very well. 

Those who have seen the final either live or as highlights in the past few decades can confirm that the on-screen positioning of the fielders, and the entire recreation of the landmark event, is correct.

Produced by Reliance Entertainment, 83 will be released in theatres on 24 December.
