In the mountain town of Sironah, everyone is a suspect. Raveena Tandon plays police officer Kasturi Dogra who is on her way out and happens to chance upon a case that can make her career. A pair of missing foreigners lines up with an old myth of the forest, lending a chilling air of foreboding in Netflix’s Aranyak.

Tandon, in her digital debut, is the determined cop who wants to see her final case through, while Parambrata Chatterjee plays her replacement who is out to stamp his own authority on the station.

The cast of characters in Aranyak includes Ashutosh Rana, Zakir Hussain, Meghna Malik and Indraneil Sengupta, all of whom might know something about the missing persons.

Director Vinay Waikul and writer Charudutt Acharya create an absorbing mystery, complete with the spooky setting of the vast forest. Tandon’s Dogra has to solve the case before she gets caught up in the drama herself.

Aranyak is produced by Roy Kapur Films and Ramesh Sippy Entertainment, with filmmaker Rohan Sippy as showrunner.

Producer Siddharth Roy Kapur stated, “Rohan, Vinay and the team have given life to multi-dimensional characters from the intriguing world of Aranyak, which was beautifully conceptualized and written by Charu. We hope the audience will connect with the story and feel the thrill and chills while being thoroughly engaged and entertained.”

Showrunner and producer Rohan Sippy recalled how the series came to be. He said, “Aranyak is a dream-turned-reality for a lot of us. I remember when Charu told me about his experience while on holiday up in Himachal [Pradesh], where he encountered this intriguing, fascinating lady cop and that sparked the idea for Kasturi’s character. The story from there has just been fascinating to build.

"It was great to work with Sid again after 15 years and with Vinay who brought this excitement and energy to the project," he continued. "And, to top it all, getting to work with Raveena almost 30 years after we began our association made it all the more special.”

Director Waikul added, “The genre is something that attracts me as well as a wide set of audiences and with Aranyak we had a lot to explore with the actors as well as the overall treatment of the show.

"You have characters you can relate to, unforeseen plot twists and a shroud of mystery that leave you thrilled and wanting to know more. Working with a talented set of crew members and actors that came together as a unit made the experience much more enjoyable.”

The mystery thriller is due to be released on Netflix on 10 December. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch the web-series.
