The makers of Andaman have decided to start their own over-the-top [OTT] platform, Open Theatre, on which they will release the film on 20 November. Starring Sanjay Mishra and Rajesh Tailang, the movie marks the directorial debut of film publicist Smita Singh. Anand Raaj is not only making his acting debut in the film but has also written and produced the film.
The makers have come up with a strategy to reward the audience for spreading the word about the film on social media. Explaining the scheme, Singh said in a statement, “It’s my first film so I am exhilarated and anxious too about its release. We are running a campaign on social media and the central idea of our campaign is ‘You are the hero of our film Andaman’ which means the audience is the hero of the film. They can take this film to [the] mass audience and earn unlimited cash-back rewards and help others to do so. We have cast 80% new actors in the film. Your support can uplift their confidence.”
Raaj said the film had been curated with the support of many ordinary and unknown people. "We want to make this film reach the maximum audience. For that, we have created our own OTT platform and are going to run an interesting social media campaign in which our audience will not only be our viewers but also our partners. We are fully energized and exuberant about the film and are expecting a festival of joy with our audience. A film of the people, for the people and by the people," he said.
When the film was in the making in December 2020, Raaj had spoken about Mishra’s casting. He had said, “While writing this character I envisioned that someone like Sanjay sir could do justice to it. And that it was almost impossible to get him on board due to our limitations. But he said yes to our film to support us!”
Andaman also stars journalist Saurabh Dwivedi in the role of a news anchor.
