SVF Entertainment has announced Joydeep Mukherjee’s upcoming directorial venture The Eken, inspired by the Hoichoi series Eken Babu. The star of the show, Anirban Chakrabarti, will reprise his role as the titular detective. The series, which has won the hearts of the Bengali audience since 2018, is based on Sujan Dasgupta's Ekenbabu detective stories.
The show was premiered on 3 March 2018 and its fifth season went live on 8 October this year. Each season has been helmed by a different director.
In Eken Babu, Chakrabarti essays the role of a detective who is disguised as an ordinary man. Eken Babu is funny, and a connoisseur of food.
Chakrabarti’s convincing portrayal of the character inspired Srijit Mukherji to cast him as Lalmohan Ganguly aka Jatayu in his web-series Feluda Pherot, which was released last year.
The Eken will hit the theatres next year.
