Mikhail Anand, son of the late filmmaker Mukul Anand who helmed the films Agneepath (1990) and Khuda Gawah (1992), is making his directorial debut with a short film starring Divya Dutta that has been tentatively titled Dinner Invite.

Mikhail, who has been an assistant director on Gori Tere Pyaar Mein! (2013), is elated about directing his first short. “I want to approach every moment on set with the same passion and conviction,” he said.

Besides the National award-winning actress, Dinner Invite features Natasha Bharadwaj and Eshaan Shanker. The short film is being produced by FNP Media.

Speaking about his late father’s legacy, Mikhail said, “I do feel a little pressure following in the footsteps of someone whose stories are so well remembered and adored, but I see the legacy as a blessing. That's what I'm going to concentrate on as I try to establish my own legacy.”

Dutta, who recently released her second book The Stars in My Sky, has the films Dhaakad and Sharmaji Ki Beti lined up for release next year.
