Bob Biswas trailer: Abhishek Bachchan's iteration of assassin can't remember criminal past

The impact of Saswata Chatterjee's performance as Bob Biswas in Sujoy Ghosh's Kahaani (2012) can never be understated. One can only hope Abhishek Bachchan manages to fill his shoes in the spin-off directed by Diya Annapurna Ghosh.

The trailer begins with the titular assassin experiencing memory loss. One is not entirely sure whether this is set before or after the events depicted in Kahaani. Seen as a family man, whose better half is played by Chitrangada Singh, Biswas, who also has two kids, slowly tries to come to terms with his existence.

Later, his second life catches up with him. Left with no choice, Biswas must recall his past or forfeit his future. Cops, killers and the burdens of domestic life weigh heavily on his mind.

Bachchan looks the part as the unassuming yet deadly hitman. However, the mystery and simplicity in the original character are missing. The thrill of Bob Biswas lay in his ordinariness. This version is a little more action-packed with the new iteration of Biswas being a departure from the phlegmatic almost comical character from the 2012 film.

Bob Biswas will be released on Zee5 on 3 December 2021.

Check out the trailer and let us know if you are keen on watching the film.
