Earlier this year, Zee5 came up with the heart-warming Zindagi original series Dhoop Ki Deewar from Pakistan, which gave a message of peace.
The next Zindagi original series from Pakistan, titled Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam, belongs to a completely different genre and is a noir drama. The only similarity is the casting of Samiya Mumtaz.
The trailer for the latest show, does not reveal much about the storyline. The series is an anthology of six stories featuring ordinary women, played by Sanam Saeed, Sarwat Gilani, Samiya Mumtaz, Faiza Gillani, Beo Raana Zafar and Eman Suleman.
One can only make out that the show is about women who have faced betrayal. But instead of crying about it, they take it upon themselves to teach those who have wronged them a lesson.
The trailer gives enough indication that the show has been shot, presented and edited in a way that would appeal to an international audience. The gory scenes deserve special mention for being creepy.
Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam also stars Saleem Mairaj, Ahsan Khan, Osman Khalid Butt and Sheheryar Munawar.
The show has been directed by British-Indian director Meenu Gaur. “I am excited that I got the chance to create a show which delivers on suspense, mystery and entertainment while leaving the indelible stamp of a woman’s point of view all over it," Gaur said in a statement. "Giving film noir a South-Asian/desi and feminist twist was definitely on my filmmaking bucket list. With this show, the femmes fatale shake off decades of the male gaze and play on their own terms.”
Qatil Haseenaon Ke Naam will be streamed on Zee5 from 10 December. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to catch this show.
