Earlier this week, Arjun Rampal started shooting for the web-series Three Monkeys, which is being helmed by the veteran filmmaker duo Abbas-Mustan. There have been numerous reports about the show being the Indian adaptation of Netflix’s successful multi-season series Money Heist and that Rampal is playing the famous character the Professor.
However, the writer of the show Deepak Venkateshan has rubbished all such claims. Reacting to the news in a Facebook post, he wrote, “News of my next. No. This has nothing to do at all with Money Heist but news syndication the way it is will continue this narrative now. I wrote Three Monkeys a long time back and it’s a heist film. Let’s leave it at that (sic).”
He also said that it is a big deal for him to be working with Abbas-Mustan. “I was in school when Abbas-Mustan did their films and it’s interesting to see a script of mine being directed by them,” he said.
Deepak was also a writer on the recent project Hum Do Hamare Do (2021), starring Rajkummar Rao and Kriti Sanon, and the 2019 Saif Ali Khan-starrer Laal Kaptaan (2019).
While starting the shoot of Three Monkeys, Rampal shared a picture on Instagram and wrote, “Lights camera action. On set again. A new journey begins (sic).”
Abbas-Mustan also has another web-series in the making, Penthouse, which also stars Rampal along with Bobby Deol and Sharman Joshi.
