Amazon miniTV announced the short film Gupt Gyaan, which has been produced by Guneet Monga and Achin Jain under the Sikhya Entertainment banner, via a trailer today.
Directed by Saqib Pandor, Gupt Gyan stars The Family Man actress Ashlesha Thakur and Vishesh Bansal, who is known for his performance in Yeh Meri Family.
Gupt Gyaan's trailer introduces the teenaged lovers Ritu (Thakur) and Anuj (Bansal). The short film seems to deal with the insecurities and fear of uncertainty experienced by teenagers in love, with Ritu seeking assurances from Anuj about his seriousness regarding the relationship. Problems arise when Ritu begins to get worried about getting pregnant as her period gets delayed, and Anuj seems baffled, claiming that they have not done anything that could lead to pregnancy.
Though the film attempts to explore the serious issue of how teenagers often get excessively worried due to the lack of proper sex education, the storytelling approach comes across as light-hearted and humorous.
Pandor, the director, said, “It has been such a privilege to bring our creative vision to life with Gupt Gyaan."
He added that while romantic stories at large strike the right chord with audiences, the manner in which they are narrated add to their enjoyment. “Through this movie, we have attempted to depict the nuances and essence of a relationship between two teenagers in a very authentic manner. I’m sure audiences will enjoy watching the movie as much as we enjoyed creating it,” he said.
According to Monga, CEO of Sikhya Entertainment, Gupt Gyaan has been made envisioning the production house’s goal to create powerful and compelling narratives. “With Amazon miniTV’s wide reach, we are glad that hundreds and millions of Indians from all parts of the country will be able to enjoy this short film for free,” she said.
The second project that is part of Amazon miniTV’s multi-film collaboration with Sikhya Entertainment, Gupt Gyaan is slated to be released on 18 November.
