Veteran actor Gulshan Grover is pleased that his film Sooryavanshi, in which he plays the supporting character Kadar Usmani, has brought people back to the theatres.
Speaking about the film, he told Cinestaan, “This will benefit not only Sooryavanshi but the entire industry. It will open doors for other films and bring back audiences to cinema halls. Multiple films are now being released one after the other. Our business was down all this while and people went through so much pain. Not only actors but also technicians.”
Grover was speaking during the promotions of his upcoming web-series Your Honor (Season 2) on SonyLIV.
The veteran actor had decided to be among the audience on opening day. “On the first day of the film, I went to the Gaiety Galaxy theatre [G7 Multiplex in Bandra, Mumbai] to watch the film. There was such a crowd that the security personnel over there advised me to get back in my car, else it would be chaos,” he said.
He added, “I showed the video to my friend Akshay Kumar and Rohit Shetty as it was opening day. I told them how people have returned and are showing their excitement and how Sooryavanshi is bringing people back to the theatres.”
Sooryavanshi has earned more than Rs155 crore nett at the Indian box office. The film also stars Katrina Kaif, Kumud Mishra and Abhimanyu Singh and sees Ajay Devgn and Ranveer Singh making cameos.
