The release of Badhaai Do (2022), starring Rajkummar Rao and Bhumi Pednekar, has been postponed by a week from the Republic Day weekend to 4 February 2022.
Produced by Junglee Pictures, the family drama has been directed by Harshavardhan Kulkarni.
The producers said they decided to shift the date due to changing release schedules. The feature film will now arrive in the “month of love” right before Valentine’s Day. It now avoids a clash with John Abraham's Attack (2022) on the Republic Day weekend.

As release dates for major films in the upcoming year are announced, producers who had already declared the dates for their films will have to reconsider. Yesterday, the makers of Gangubai Kathiawadi (2022) announced that its release was being pushed to February after SS Rajamouli’s Roudram Ranam Rudhiram (2022) was announced for release one day after the Sanjay Leela Bhansali film's original date, 6 January.
Badhaai Do is an unrelated sequel of sorts to the Junglee banner's 2018 blockbuster Badhaai Ho, starring Ayushmann Khurrana, Neena Gupta and Gajraj Rao. The film marked Amit Ravindernath Sharma’s directorial debut.
The second film also features an ensemble cast that includes Seema Pahwa, Sheeba Chaddha, Loveleen Mishra, Nitish Pandey and Shashi Bhushan. The project was announced before the COVID-19 pandemic struck India in March 2020.
Filming for the family drama, which has been co-written by Suman Adhikary and Akshat Ghildial, began in January this year and was wrapped up in March. Kulkarni made his directorial debut with the Gulshan Devaiah-starrer Hunterrr (2015). He also wrote the screenplay and dialogues for Hasee Toh Phasee (2014).
