After a long postponement because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Amey Wagh and Lalit Prabhakar's Marathi movie Zombivli has finally got a release date. The film, directed by Aditya Sarpotdar, will hit the theatres on 4 February 2022.
The makers announced the new release date with a new poster which features a bruised and battered Wagh and Prabhakar with a horde of zombies in the background.
Zombivli is the first Marathi film in the genre of zombie comedy. Zombivli, which was one of the first Marathi films to go on the floors last year after the first lockdown, was earlier scheduled to be released in cinemas on 30 April this year. But the makers had to postpone the release because of the second wave of COVID-19.
At an Instagram Live event to announce the release date, director Sarpotdar revealed that the team was quite sure of releasing the film in theatres. "Many people have been asking us on social media if we were planning to release the film on OTT, but we were quite adamant on a theatrical release," he said. "Zombivli is the kind of film that should be watched in theatres with your friends and family to enjoy fully. If you are watching it on your smartphone or laptop you won't get that feel."
Produced by Yoodlee Films, Zombivli also stars Vaidehi Parshurami and Trupti Khamkar.
