After collecting a grand total of Rs120 crore nett in its first week in theatres, it was critical for a big-budget flick like Rohit Shetty's Sooryavanshi (2021) to continue to maintain its grip on the box office in the second week, and looking at the collection of this Akshay Kumar-starrer on its second Friday, it seems to be on the right path.

The film earned Rs7.25 crore nett on its eighth day, taking its total collection to 127.50 crore, according to trade website BoxOfficeIndia.com. The film had made Rs8 crore nett on Thursday, which means it saw a drop of only about 10% in collections on Friday.

Seeing its steady hold on ticket sales so far, the action entertainer should see a double-digit score today and on Sunday, which will take its total collection to the Rs150 crore mark, which also happens to be the film's estimated budget.

The film will then need to retain its grip on the box office for the rest of the week if it is to stand a chance of attaining hit status. From next Friday, a flurry of new releases is lined up, starting with the Yash Raj Films production Bunty Aur Babli 2 on 19 November.

Sooryavanshi, which also has cameos by Ranveer Singh and Ajay Devgn, is the fourth film in Rohit Shetty's so-called cop universe after Singham (2011), Singham Returns (2014) and Simmba (2018).
