One can always trust Pritam to come up with a song that gets you moving. The composer delivers yet again with a melodious, groovy party song for Milan Luthria's film Tadap, starring Ahan Shetty and Tara Sutaria.
The song begins with Shetty's hero character uttering a line with the brazenness of a 1990s hero. The song that follows is a complete departure from his utterance in terms of tone.
Sutaria and Shetty are backed by colourful visuals which add to the pleasantness of the overall experience and the odd visual of a distraught Shetty raging by himself adds a dark undertone. With Irshad Kamil offering the words to the music, there is an added incentive for listeners.
The composition by Pritam is wonderfully melodious. For a party song, it eschews heavy percussion, maintaining a steady EDM beat that creates a hypnotic trance-like feel. The first hit of Shilpa Rao's vocals has a wondrous effect. While being melodious, the track has enough pep to get you on your feet. Darshan Raval brings in the male perspective and he has the right amount of depth.
Pritam allows the vocals to rise above the music and subdues it at just the right moment. The switch back to the dominant rhythm in a heightened tempo has an impressive effect, making the song worth listening to.
Tadap is set to be released in theatres on 3 December.
