Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, Kiara Advani to star in Govinda Naam Mera

Filmmaker Shashank Khaitan has announced the cast and release date of his next romantic entertainer, Govinda Naam Mera. The film, starring Vicky Kaushal, Kiara Advani and Bhumi Pednekar, will arrive in theatres on 10 June 2022. 

The makers released the main poster of the film, followed by posters of the three actors in character. 

Produced by Viacom18 and Dharma Productions, Govinda Naam Mera seems to be the replacement of the Varun Dhawan-led Mr Lele, which was shelved early in 2020 due to a schedule clash with Dhawan. 

Kaushal will star as the titular Govinda Waghmare, with Pednekar playing his wife and Advani playing the girlfriend in the comedy entertainer. 

While the makers have kept the story under wraps, the descriptions in the posters reveal some characteristics. Pednekar described Kaushal's character as 'my partner in crime' while Advani described her own character as someone who will add 'spice' to the story.

The film is being produced by Karan Johar, Apoorva Mehta, and Viacom18's Ajit Andhare. Khaitan has also co-written the story of Karan Johar's upcoming directorial venture, Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani, which has gone on the floors this week.
