The trailer of the film captures the surreal world Lijo Jose has created for the new film. Having being premiered at the IFFK 2021 earlier this year, the film is now set to have a digital release.
In addition to its Indian premiere, the film was screened in the Gala section of the Tokyo International Film Festival in September. The film was also nominated for the 15th Asian Film Awards alongside Koozhangal and The Disciple.
Churuli has been written by S Hareesh, who also wrote the screenplay for Jallikattu (2019). Chemban Vinod, who has featured in Lijo Jose's previous films Ee Ma Yau (2017) and Jallikattu, is producing Churuli along with the director.
The film features a musical score by Sreerag Saji.
