Hansal Mehta, Juhi Chaturvedi, Anup Singh to shed light on various topics at Dharamshala International Film Festival

The 10th edition of the Dharamshala International Film Festival (DIFF) will be held virtually from 4 to 10 November 2021. The organizers have announced a series of live talks, round-table discussions and a post-production lab as part of the festival’s special programming.

A roundtable moderated by critic Raja Sen, with director-producer Hansal Mehta and screenwriter Juhi Chaturvedi will focus on the ways in which the fast-evolving OTT environment has changed independent filmmaking.

As part of the live talks, filmmakers Anup Singh and Pushpendra Singh will be in conversation about their respective films and careers –– including Pushpendra Singh’s Laila Aur Satt Geet (2020), which will be screened at DIFF 2021. Documentary magazine’s managing editor Bedatri Choudhury will moderate a discussion between filmmakers Anam Abbas, Rintu Thomas and Sushmit Ghosh titled The Revolution Will Be Documented, and Tibetan filmmakers Tenzin Tsetan Choklay and Ngawang Choephel will discuss Choephel’s new film, Ganden: A Joyful Land, which will also be showcased at the event. 

The DIFF post-production lab will include a series of interactive masterclasses with industry professionals, moderated by Mehak Jamal. These sessions include Post-production with Gaurav Rungta (The Viral Fever), Subtitling with Sonali Joshi (UK-based film company, Day for Night), Music and Sound Design with award-winning composer duo Naren Chandavarkar and Benedict Taylor (Paatal Lok, Ship of Theseus and Udta Punjab) and Colour Management, Correction and Grading with Sid Meer (AK vs. AK, Writing with Fire and Eeb Allay Ooo!) 

In addition, there will be conversations with first-time filmmakers and on film financing in India, as well as conversations with acclaimed Israeli filmmaker Avi Mograbi and Bangladeshi artist Naeem Mohaiemen.
