Coronavirus update: Kangana Ranaut tests positive for COVID-19, dismisses it as 'small-time flu'


The actress was planning a trip to her hometown in Himachal Pradesh and hence underwent the test.

Actress Kangana Ranaut has tested positive for the the novel coronavirus. On Saturday, she took to Instagram to tell her followers that she got herself tested after experiencing some discomfort.

Sharing a picture of herself in a yoga posture, she wrote, "I was feeling tired and weak with a slight burning sensation in my eyes for past few days, was hoping to go to Himachal so got my test done yesterday and today the result came I am covid positive (sic)."

The actress urged people not to be scared of the ailment and to not let it overpower them. She wrote, “People please don’t give anything any power over you if you are scared it will scare you more, come let’s destroy this Covid -19 it is nothing but small-time flu which got too much press and now psyching few people. Har Har Mahadev (sic).”

Earlier this week, Twitter permanently suspended Ranaut's account after a series of controversial tweets over the prevailing post-poll situation in West Bengal, which triggered sharp reactions on social media. But the actress continues to be active on Instagram, posting updates and videos.

On the work front, she was last seen on the big screen in Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari’s sports drama Panga (2020) and is awaiting the release of Thalaivi, a drama based on the life of the late actress-turned-Tamil Nadu chief minister J Jayalalithaa.
