The digital edition of the Animation Masters Summit (AMS) is being held from 4-8 May 2021. The annual event celebrates animation, bringing together professionals and experts in the field from around the world to interact with aspiring young animators.
This year, filmmaker Ketan Mehta, the founder of Maya Academy of Advanced Cinematics and Maya Digital Studio, was felicitated with the Special Contribution to the Indian Animation Industry Award at the summit. Nina Sabnani, an artist, storyteller and professor at the Industrial Design Centre, IIT Bombay, received the Legend of Indian Animation Award at the event.
Speaking about receiving the award, Sabnani said, “I am truly honoured by this award and I accept it on behalf of all who have walked with me. I am especially happy to receive it in the year where the theme of the Animation Masters Summit is 'Embracing Diversity: Finding beauty in our differences' because truly that is what will guide us to a peaceful future. I am grateful to the many communities I have worked and collaborated with, who have made me aware of such beauty.”
The keynote address for the event was given by filmmaker Subhash Ghai, who is also the founder of Whistling Woods Films Institute.
AMS is an annual event organised by Toonz Media Group and was established in 1999 as the first animation event in India.
