Vitthal Teedi song 'Vitthal Vitthal': Peppy track introduces us to Pratik Gandhi's character

The number is based on the devotional number ‘Chhand’ by the poet, songwriter and artist Dula Bhaya Kag.

It is not often that you see the lead character of a show get a title track of their own. However, Pratik Gandhi has been thusly honoured with the song ‘Vitthal Vitthal’ from his first Gujarati show Vitthal Teedi.

Gandhi’s character in Scam 1992, the show that made him popular, was a city-dweller; a man who kind of ruled Mumbai [then Bombay]. His character in this series lives in a village in Gujarat.

The song, which is based on the devotional number ‘Chhand’ by the poet Dula Bhaya Kag, introduces the title character and showcases his qualities and thoughts. The video depicts a sweet and subtle romantic moment between the protagonist and his lady love (Brinda Trivedi).

Bhargav Purohit’s additional lyrics blend well with the original lines while singer Aditya Gadhvi shows off his range in an energetic rendition. Kedar and Bhargav’s music is an interesting fusion of traditional and contemporary sounds.

Gandhi appears at ease while playing a village boy with big dreams and aspirations.

The first season of Vitthal Teedi will be streamed on OHO Gujarati from 7 May.
