Kumar Mangat Pathak and Abhishek Pathak’s Panorama Studios International have acquired the Hindi remake rights of Jeethu Joseph’s highly acclaimed Malayalam thriller Drishyam 2 (2021), the sequel to the successful Drishyam (2013). Both films starred Mohanlal.
The Hindi remake is titled Drishyam 2 - The Resumption. Sharing the news, Kumar Mangat Pathak said in a statement, “With the huge success of Drishyam 2, the story needs to be told with passion and commitment and we as producers are committed to that.”
Jeethu reacted on the news, saying, “The story of Drishyam 2 resonated with people and I am so glad that Panorama Studios International will make it reach a wider audience with the Hindi remake. I am looking forward to it.”
Panorama Studios International had also remade Drishyam in 2015. The film starred Ajay Devgn and was directed by the late Nishikant Kamat.
The makers haven’t revealed whether Devgn will headline the second film too. But considering that he played the protagonist in the first part and his closeness to the Pathak family, it won’t come as a surprise if he is signed for the sequel.
Antony Perumbavoor, the producer of the original Malayalam film, said was certain that the production house would do justice to the film. “We are happy that Panorama Studios International has acquired the rights of Drishyam 2," he said.
