The teaser of Zee5’s web-series Sunflower sees Ashish Vidyarthi’s character Dilip Iyer expressing the desire to spread ‘Indian culture’ in his housing society.

Speaking about this aspect, Vidyarthi said during the online trailer launch, “The speciality about the guardians of culture is that they interpret culture in their own way.”

Sunflower, which stars Sunil Grover, is about a murder that takes place in a housing society populated by different types of characters.

Vidyarthi plays a typical uncle who wants things to be done in certain ways. “There are some interesting gaps in the lines of the characters through which we actors play around. The good thing about OTT is that we get time to add few things here and there. Thanks to Rahul and Vikas [Bahl]. I observed how much freedom they gave to each actor so that they can explore themselves,” said the veteran actor.

Vidyarthi said he enjoyed playing the character because though he is full of contradictions, he is outspoken. "We all live on two levels. We show something to the world but our truth is something else buried inside. I really enjoyed this particular thing," he said.

The actor was impressed at the cast's ability to perform organically. “We were behaving and cameras were capturing. So the entire thing fell into place. It didn’t feel it was a performance,” he said.

Sunflower will be streamed on Zee5 from 11 June.
