Actress Meera Chopra has issued a statement denying that she secured a COVID-19 vaccination via unfair means.

There were reports that the actress, who is the cousin of actress Priyanka Chopra, had used a photo ID card identifying her as a supervisor at a private firm, which enabled her to get vaccinated on priority as a frontline worker at the Thane Municipal Corporation's Parking Plaza Centre.

Seeking to refute all such reports, Chopra posted a note on Twitter on Sunday that read, "We all want to get vaccinated and we all are trying our best to do that. Similarly, I also tried trying asking help from people I know and after 1 month of trying I was able to get myself registered in one of the centers (sic)."

She added, "I was just asked to send in my Aadhaar card. The ID that has been floating on social media is not mine. I was asked for my Aadhaar card for the registration and that’s the only ID I gave. No ID is valid until it has your signature. I myself saw that so-called ID card for the first time when it came on Twitter. I totally condemn such practices and if any such ID has been made I would want to know how and why.”

Thane municipal commissioner Vipin Sharma announced a probe into the allegations against the artiste.

Chopra has appeared in a few Hindi films such as 1920 London (2016) and Section 375 (2019) as well as some Tamil and Telugu projects. She was last seen in the web series Kamathipura.
