Punjabi actor Gippy Grewal, crew members arrested for shooting amid lockdown


The unit was found to be flouting COVID-19 guidelines and the lockdown in Banur in Patiala district.

Punjabi actor and singer Gippy Grewal has been arrested along with his crew for shooting for a film amid the weekend lockdown and not following COVID-19 protocols.

The actor and his crew were found to be shooting for the film without obtaining any permission to do so in Banur, Patiala district, on Saturday.

According to a report in The Tribune newspaper, the shooting was going on in Karala village in Banur when a police team raided the location on receiving a tip-off.

When the police found that no permission had been taken for the shoot, the actor and crew members were taken into custody and a case registered under section 188 of the Indian Penal Code, section 51 of the Disaster Management Act and section 3 of the Epidemic Diseases Act. The team was later released on bail.

Earlier, actor Jimmy Sheirgill had been booked for defying COVID-19 guidelines while shooting for a web-series in the state.
