Veteran actor Dilip Kumar was discharged from Mumbai’s Hinduja Hospital yesterday after undergoing tests. He had been admitted there on Friday as his health indicators weren’t normal.

His wife, veteran actress Saira Banu, told IndianExpress.com, “We had to admit Dilip sahab because some of his parameters were not fine. The doctor suggested that we should get him admitted and do some tests. After two days of being at the hospital, Dilip sahab is fine with your duas [prayers]. He has been given a discharge from the hospital sometime back.”

Faisal Farooqi, Dilip Kumar’s family friend and close aide, told the news agency Press Trust of India, “He was admitted for a routine check-up. There’s no [need to] panic. These are routine tests that are required to be done from time to time because of his age. He is doing fine.”

Dilip Kumar lost his two younger brothers, Aslam Khan and Ehsan Khan, to COVID-19 last year.

Born Yusuf Khan in 1922, Dilip Kumar is considered one of the greats of Indian cinema. After making his debut in the Hindi film industry in Jwar Bhata (1944), he ruled the roost for decades, giving memorable performances in classics such as Devdas (1955) and Naya Daur (1957)
