Parambrata Chatterjee to play middle-aged Christian priest in Saptaswa Basu's next film Jotugriho

Shooting for the film was to begin at the end of May. However, due to the rise in COVID cases in the state and the lockdown, it has been postponed.

Parambrata Chatterjee will be essaying the role of a middle-aged Christian priest in Saptaswa Basu’s upcoming horror film Jotugriho.

Starring Bonny Sengupta, the film will be set in the fictional town of Nishadganj in North Bengal. Piyali Chatterjee will also play a major character in the film.

Shooting for the film was to begin at the end of May. However, due to the rise in COVID cases in the state and the lockdown, it has been postponed.

In Jotugriho, the protagonist Rehaan (Sengupta) travels from Kolkata to Nishadganj to manage a hotel. He then bonds romantically with Meghna (Piyali), who participates in the humanitarian activities carried out by the local church.

Soon, Rehaan begins to experience paranormal activities. Eventually, the supernatural poses a threat to Meghna’s life. Rehaan gets then acquainted with Parambrata's character, Joseph, and both of them venture out to solve the mystery and ensure the woman's survival.

“We will give Param Da a unique look in this film. Since we want to show him as a middle-aged character, we will design an enhanced look for him,” said Basu. The director added that Rehaan and Meghna's love story will not be the highlight of the mystery film.

Written by Arnab Bhaumik, Jotugriho has been produced by Raktim Chatterjee, SSG Entertainment and Neo Studios. “First-time producer Raktim Chatterjee has agreed to make this film for the big screen, and we are hoping for a better time in the near future to release it,” added Basu.
