Veteran film editor Govind Dalwadi died recently in Mumbai of post-COVID complications. He was 85 years old.
Dalwadi, who edited such hits as Kashmir Ki Kali (1964), Aradhana (1969), Nagina (1986) and Biwi Ho To Aisi (1988), died on Sunday 16 May.
Beginning as an assistant under another celebrated film editor, Dharam Veer, Dalwadi was given his big break in the industry by filmmaker Shakti Samanta with Kashmir Ki Kali (1964).
Following the success of the film starring Shammi Kapoor and Sharmila Tagore, his career took off and he edited films like An Evening In Paris (1967), Aradhana (1969), Kati Patang (1971) and Amar Prem (1972).
While working with Dharam Veer, Dalwadi had assisted on films like Howrah Bridge (1958) and Mughal-e-Azam (1960).
The veteran is survived by his wife, two sons, two daughters and their families.
Reports said he had tested positive for COVID-19 in late March, but he had tested negative on 14 May. However, post-COVID complications and pneumonia led to his death just two days later.

His filmography includes An Evening In Paris, Aradhana, Kati Patang, Amar Prem, Do Jasoos, Gopichand Jasoos, Pyaar Jhukta Nahin, Bhavani Junction, Nagina, Asli Naqli, Biwi Ho To Aisi, and Dulhe Raja.

Dalwadi had retired from the film industry 15 years ago. His last work was director KC Bokadia's Bold (2006).
