Apparently, Chiranjeevi also enrolled her in the Movie Artistes Association (MAA) through which she will be receiving a monthly pension of Rs6,000 and medical insurance cover of Rs3 lakh.
Shyamala made her acting debut with Chiranjeevi’s 1984 Telugu action film, Challenge. Some of her other films are Babai Abbai (1985), Swarnakamalam (1988), Karthavyam (1991), Indra (2002) and Varsham (2004). She was last seen on the big screen in the Telugu comedy Mathu Vadalara (2019).
Chiranjeevi has been leading the Telugu film industry in the fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. Last year, he donated Rs1 crore as a relief fund.
“The lockdown situation, while mandatory to deal with the coronavirus, also adversely impacts the lives of daily wage workers and lower income groups in the country, including Telugu film industry. Keeping this in mind, I am donating Rs1 crore for providing relief to film workers,” he had tweeted at the time.
