Mohomaya Chapter 2 trailer: Emotional desperation brings the characters down

The trailer contains plenty of disturbing visuals of the characters’ eccentricity, and of death.

While the first season of the Hoichoi web-series Mohomaya (2021) introduced the audience to a tale of forbidden passions caused by complex blood relations, the trailer for the upcoming second season shows how these intense emotions lead the characters to their downfall.

Written by Sahana Dutta and directed by Kamaleswar Mukherjee, Mohomaya features Ananya Chattterjee, Swastika Mukherjee and Bipul Patra in the lead roles.

In the second season, the re-entry of Rishi (Patra) into the life of Aruna (Swastika) causes tension in her household. Deprived of affection and care from a mentally ill mother (Chatterjee), Rishi develops a strange attraction for Aruna, who, despite failing to understand the nature of her own affection for Rishi, finds it difficult to stay away from him.

As Rishi is haunted by memories of his disturbed childhood, he gets more involved in Aruna’s life. His troublesome equation with his own mother, who often seems to get hysterical fits while craving her son’s attention, deeply affects Aruna’s life as well.

Both Rishi and Aruna are warned by members of the latter’s family against their pernicious bond, but their emotional desperation makes it difficult for them to stop playing with fire.

The trailer contains plenty of disturbing visuals of the characters’ eccentricity, and death as well. At the same time, incidents from the past and the present create confusion and make the trailer unnecessarily lengthy.

Mohomaya Chapter 2 is set to be streamed on Hoichoi from 21 May. Watch the trailer below and let us know if you are keen to watch this season of the web-series.

Correction, 19 May 2021: An earlier version of this report misstated the name of the character played by Swastika Mukherjee as Runa. The character's name is Aruna.
