The motion poster for the Marathi movie Kandil was unveiled recently on social media. It features five youngsters played by Mahesh Kand, Laxman Salunke, Vinod Khurangle, Mandar Phakatkar and Divyaraj Ovwal. Three of them are seated under a tree, the fourth is leaning against it while the fifth is looking into the distance.
Kandil tells the story of five youngsters living in a slum who dream of becoming rich one day. They face several problems and how they overcome those to come out on top is the crux of the story.
Helmed by first-time director Mahesh Kand, Kandil was scheduled to have its world premiere at the19th Pune International Film Festival earlier this year, but the festival got postponed on account of the surge in COVID-19 cases.
Amarjeet Amle has written the screenplay for Kandil while Mangesh Dhakde, who won the Filmfare award this year and has composed the music for films like Valu (2008) and Deool (2011), has scored the music.
The film has been produced under the banner of LK Pictures by Laxman Kand, Abhijeet Kand and Mahesh Kand.
