The self-aware independent film RK/RKay, which has been directed by Rajat Kapoor, is set for a virtual cinema release in the United States and Canada. The makers, however, have not revealed when the project will be released in India.

Kapoor turned to crowdfunding to raise money for the production of the film, which also features Ranvir Shorey and Mallika Sherawat, in 2017. The film went on the floors in 2018.

The film tells the story of a filmmaker RK (Kapoor) who is in the process of making his film, when his lead character, Mahboob, goes missing. When RK finally finds him, he has to come to terms with a confused individual who has no memory of his past and the reason why he was on the run. Shorey plays the antagonist in the film within the film and Sherawat essays the role of its leading lady while Manu Rishi Chaddha plays the hassled producer, left without a leading character.

RK/RKay has been produced by Kapoor's Mithya Talkies and Priyanshi Films. The quirky project abounds in absurdism and promises to be a radical departure from regular films.
