D Company to be released on Ram Gopal Varma's OTT platform Spark on 15 May

Filmmaker and producer Ram Gopal Varma is all set to launch his own over-the-top (OTT) platform called Spark. It will go live on 15 May with the release of Varma’s upcoming film D Company. The film will be out in Telugu and Hindi.
With D Company, Varma returns to his favourite theme, the Mumbai underworld. The movie is based on the life of the dreaded gangster and terrorist Dawood Ibrahim.
The filmmaker said in a tweet, “D Company, the film, covers the part of Dawood Ibrahim’s story between 1980 to 1982; of events leading to his brother’s murder (sic).” The film will see newcomer Ashwat Kanth play the role of the don.

Varma has also turned singer with this film through the song ‘Khaali Haath'.
Several figures from the film industry such as Prabhas, SS Rajamouli, Manoj Bajpayee, Riteish Deshmukh, Prakash Raj, Brahmanandam, Puri Jagannadh, K Vijayendra Prasad and Lakshmi Manchu congratulated Varma on his new venture.

D Company was to arrive in theatres on 26 March. However, its release was postponed after the start of the second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Varma has also organized a short film contest on his platform for budding filmmakers.
