Ruhi Singh is the Runaway Lugaai in the MX Player web-series

Ruhi Singh plays the title role in the MX Player web-series Runaway Lugaai. Her character is married to the one played by Naveen Kasturia but, as the title suggests, she runs away thereafter.

The show also stars Sanjay Mishra, Ravi Kishan, Aarya Babbar and Chittaranjan Tripathy. This is director Avinash Das’s second web-series after She (2020). He has also helmed films like Anaarkali Of Aarah (2017) and the recently released Raat Baaki Hai (2021).

In a statement, he said, “Every director has a certain style, but I feel the real challenge lies in telling different stories differently. For me, Runaway Lugaai has turned out to be a project that stands apart from my recent works. I quite enjoyed bringing alive a story which has entertainment, politics, law, corruption and human emotions rolled into one. I had a great team of actors who have added their own quirks and dimensions to the characters in a delightful way.”

Producer Aarav Jindal believes the show can be a good distraction from the devastating COVID-19 scene in the country. “We are happy to bring a show like Runaway Lugaai, which traces the humorous and heartwarming journey of Rajni (Kasturia) in not just finding his lugaai, but also going through a roller-coaster ride which changes his life forever. The audience needs a bout of laughter in these tough times and we hope we can do our bit in spreading some cheer,” said Jindal.

Runaway Lugaai will be available on MX Player from 18 May.
