Aneek Choudhuri's upcoming short film The Last Apple deals with atrocities inflicted on Syrian women

Independent filmmaker Aneek Choudhuri is all set to shoot his upcoming short film The Last Apple.

Featuring Usha Banerjee, the project deals with the atrocities inflicted on the women of Syria.

According to the director, who made experimental works such as White and Cactus, Syria poses an alarming crisis in international politics. “This is indeed a hot topic in the present scenario. I could find no better time to reach the audiences and strike the right chord with them” said Choudhuri.

Choudhuri, also a film scholar, further said that he had gone over some deplorable episodes experienced by individuals of Syria who are as yet living with dread. “I had arranged something two years back. However, I was unable to feel that I was wealthy [enough] to make something with conviction. Presently, at this stage, I think I am very ready for it,” he commented.

The Last Apple will be produced by Rajib Ball, an Australia-based filmmaker.

Choudhuri had discussed the script with Banerjee before he decided to make the film and he regards the project to be a collaboration with the actress.
