The makers of Hemant Dhome's Jhimma have revealed, via a poster, that the women-centric film will be released in theatres on 23 April.
Along with the poster, the makers have also revealed the ensemble cast of the film, which comprises actresses Sonalee Kulkarni, Sayali Sanjeev, Mrinmayee Godbole, Nirmiti Sawant, Suhas Joshi, Kshitee Jog, Suchitra Bandekar and, the sole male, Siddharth Chandekar. Most of the actresses are working together for the first time.
It is difficult to gauge what the film is about from the poster but from the attire worn by the cast, it seems like they all come from different classes and backgrounds. If nothing else, we can see that they have a strong bond.
Apart from having a strong female cast, the film's screenplay has also been written by a woman, Irawati Karnik.
Jhimma is an indoor activity where a group of women sit in a circle — as seen in the poster — and strike one another's hands, fall back, and advance again.
The film is being jointly produced by Amey Khopkar Entertainment and Crazy Few Films and will be presented by Dhome's home production company, Chalchitra Company.
