After completing his first Hindi feature film Manohar Pandey (2021), Kaushik Ganguly is ready to direct his next feature, Kabaddi Kabaddi (2021), starring Ritwick Chakraborty, Arjun Chakraborty and Sohini Sarkar.

The National award-winning director is gearing up to present a tale set in rural Bengal, woven with the theme of the popular game of kabaddi.

In the film, Ritwick will be seen as schoolmaster and kabaddi coach Niloy while Arjun will play his dedicated student Chanchal, aspiring to play for the country one day. Their tumultuous equation will be presented in the backdrop of village politics and the societal order of a marginalized community in Birbhum district.

Sohini Sarkar, as Niloy’s sister Sima, will closely observe Niloy and Chanchal’s journey, which will have metaphorical resonance with the game as well.

The film will capture the nuanced essence of the relationship shared by these three characters. Kabaddi Kabaddi also promises to present a refreshing and unconventional take on love.

Ganguly thanked his producers ABS Infozon Pvt Ltd for backing what he described as an out-of-the-box project. The filmmaker will be shooting for Kabaddi Kabaddi in Kolkata and Bolpur.

Ganguly has two other completed films, Lokkhi Chhele and Kaberi Antardhan, which are yet to be released.
