The second wave of COVID-19 cases across the country has impacted projects whose release dates were announced after the lockdown ended, the latest victim being Rumy Jafry's thriller Chehre.
Starring Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi, the film, which was to arrive in theatres on 9 April, has now been postponed.
The production house put out a message that states, "The well-being of our very own audience is of utmost importance to us. We are extremely humbled by the love and support that we have received this far. See you in the cinemas soon."

The press note reads, "Due to the rising cases of COVID-19 and new guidelines for cinemas, we are unable to release our movie Chehre on 9th April and have decided to postpone until further notice. We have decided to bring Chehre back to audiences theatrically when the environment is more conducive for the experience (sic)."
The Yash Raj production Bunty Aur Babli 2, and Rana Daggubati-starrer Haathi Mere Saathi were postponed in similar circumstances.
Speaking of the decision to postpone Chehre, producer Anand Pandit said, "Considering the situation and safety of our audiences and fans, which is of utmost importance to us, we have decided to postpone our film Chehre. The team has taken immense efforts to make it a great cinematic experience and we are looking forward to our audiences coming to the theatres safely."
The rise in coronavirus cases has caused several states across India to impose restrictions. Maharashtra, one of the worst-affected states, has imposed severe restrictions on public gatherings, allowing theatres to operate with 50% patronage.
