Just a few days after receiving a Special Mention (Director) National Film Award for his debut film Picasso (2021), director Abhijeet Warang has announced his second project titled Deja Vu.
The psychological thriller in Hindi will star Sharad Kelkar and Amruta Khanvilkar in the lead roles.
Though the makers are tight-lipped about the film, Warang told Cinestaan that the project, which is based on a real incident, will go on floors on 1 April.
Considering how completely different it is from Warang's first film, it will be interesting to see how the filmmaker explores this particular subject in his Hindi debut.
This is the first time Kelkar and Khanvilkar have been cast together. The film also stars Akshay Waghmare.
Kelkar, who played Maratha king Shivaji in Om Raut's Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior (2020), was last seen in Darbaan (2020) with Sharib Hashmi. Significantly, this is the first time Kelkar will be playing the lead role in a Hindi film.
Khanvilkar was last seen in Mohit Suri's Malang (2020). The actress has been playing supporting roles in Hindi films such as Raazi (2018) and Satyamev Jayate (2018), and like Kelkar, this is the first time she will be playing a lead actress in Hindi cinema.
Deja Vu will be presented by Good Boy Entertainment and the makers are eyeing the month of June for the release of their film.
