Malayalam actor Maanav bags best actor award at Cannes World Film Festival for Irumbu

The film, directed by Pradeesh Unnikrishnan, has received more than 30 awards at various national and international film festivals.

Maanav has bagged the best actor award at the Cannes World Film Festival in France for a Malayalam movie Irumbu.

The Malayalam actor plays the lead role in this social drama directed by Pradeesh Unnikrishnan. Irumbu is a hard-hitting film that explores the topic of rape and victimization of an affected father and mother.

On receiving the award, Maanav said, "It is a fabulous feeling. To win an award at a recognized film festival like the Cannes World Film Festival in France is a big high as an actor and makes me want to work harder and better.”

He added, "The film is on child sexual abuse and brutality  and it is the right time for the film to come out."

Maanav won the best actor awards at the Virgin Spring Cinefest International Film Festival, Kalaburagi International Film Festival in Karnataka and the Scene Film festival in the United States. The film has received more than 30 awards at various national and international film festivals. Recently, Pradeesh won the best drector award at the New York Movie Awards.

Irumbu has been written by Nithin Narayanan and produced under the banner of the Gateway Films Group.
