The Big Bull song 'Ishq Namazaa': Ankit Tiwari croons a delightful romance for this scamster flick

Composed by Gourov Dasgupta, the song features lyrics by Kunwar Juneja.

Matters of business and matters of the heart don't always go together. This is where Kookie Gulati's The Big Bull, which is based on the life of controversial stockbroker Harshad Mehta, attempts to differentiate itself from the similarly themed Hansal Mehta's Scam 1992. While the acclaimed web-series steered clear of romance, apart from a few scenes, the Abhishek Bachchan-film opens with a romantic song, 'Ishq Namazaa'.

Featuring Bachchan's Hemant Shah, the song captures the passionate side of the analytic businessman. The visuals trace back to how his love affair begins with Nikita Dutta's character, and its transformation as the money starts flowing. The young man and woman, who live in a chawl, steal glances at each other, but as Shah's stature grows, he tries to sweep her off her feet with elaborate gestures such as buying paani puri stalls on a whim. With this, his transformation from a shy neighbourhood boy to a flamboyant businessman is complete. Bachchan looks the part as the quiet demure Gujarati youth, while Dutta assumes the livelier personality in the song.

The song by Gourov Dasgupta is a lovely ballad that is easy on the ear. Ankit Tiwari's voice adds to the composition with its dulcet tones. Dasgupta keeps the composition simple. With the guitar providing setting the rhythm, the song acquires a distinct flavour. Kunwar Juneja's lyrics are impressive. The slow percussion that follows the initial vocals only highlights the delicate nature of the song.

Wonderfully composed, 'Ishq Namazaa' captures the slowly developing romance and is worth a listen.
