The release of the Punjabi language feature Puaada, starring Ammy Virk and Sonam Bajwa, has been postponed. The film was to be the first Punjabi film to be released after the lockdown, on 2 April, but due to the rise in COVID-19 cases across the country, the makers and audiences will need to wait a little longer.

Zee Studios shared the news on Twitter on Tuesday.

Anticipating the release of the film, the crew had started generating quite a buzz about the project on social media.

Puaada marks the directorial debut of Rupinder Chahal and is being backed by A&A Pictures and Brat Films. The producers include Atul Bhalla, Pawan Gill, Anurag Singh, Aman Gill and Balwinder Singh Janjua. The film features music by V RAKX Music and lyrics by Happy Raikoti and Harmanjeet Singh.

The impact of the rising cases of COVID-19 has hit the film industry quite severely, as theatre owners have already been reeling under massive losses owing to reduced footfall in cinema halls. The release of the Rana Daggubati-starrer Haathi Mere Saathi, which was to arrive in theatres on 26 March, has also been pushed.
