The release of the Rana Daggubati-starrer Haathi Mere Saathi has been postponed because of the rise in COVID-19 cases in the country.

However, Kaadan and Aranya, the Tamil and Telugu versions of the film, will be released as scheduled on Friday 26 March.

Veteran trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared a note on behalf of the makers of the movie, Eros International, on Twitter.

The note read, 'Dear viewers. It pains us to share this news but given the COVID-19 situation in the Hindi market, the team of Haathi Mere Saathi has decided to hold on to the release of the film. We shall keep you posted on further developments.'

The note added, 'However, we will be releasing Aranya and Kaadan in the South markets on 26 March.'

The trilingual was earlier supposed to be released on 2 April last year, but that plan was scuppered by the arrival of the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent countrywide lockdown that was from the last week of March.

In similar news, the release of the Punjabi movie Puaada was also postponed because of the rising cases and new COVID-19 guidelines in Punjab. The film was supposed to be released on 2 April.
