Kefi Media and Entertainment has announced the cast of its upcoming anthology film Three Course Meal, which will be directed by Indrasis Acharya, Shieladitya Moulik and Arjunn Dutta.
Paoli Dam, MK Raina and Kan Singh Sodha will star in Dutta’s segment, Biriyani, while Shweta Basu Prasad and Anirban Chakrabarti have been cast for Moulik’s film, Baby Food, and Sushma Deshpande, Joy Sengupta, Anubhav Kanjilal, Ananya Sengupta and Debopriyo Mukherjee will appear in Acharya’s film Red Velvet.
“I am extremely happy to be part of this collaborative project by three of the most important contemporary Bengali filmmakers,” said Dam, who will be working with Dutta for the first time. “This is also going to be my first-ever short film, that too in Hindi. I know I keep saying every time that the film is completely different but that’s what I am looking for in my projects,” said the actress, who will start shooting for the dark fantasy thriller in April.
Raina, a noted theatre director, is excited to work in this film as he found the script extremely interesting. “On the outside, the film talks of food but actually the film is about very subtle emotions and desires. The most interesting part is that I cannot talk about it but through silence, my actions will speak for the theme,” said the veteran artiste.
Prasad, who found her role quite challenging, said, “As clichéd as it might sound, the theme of the short film that I am working in is truly unique.”
The actress has already completed shooting her portion and said that she had a lovely time working with Chakrabarti.
According to Prasad, the subject of her segment is not as innocuous as its title and she reportedly had a hard time eating after the shoot got over.
“I came here to work but I am now going back after making friends. Next time, when I come, I will be sure to chill with them,” said the National Award-winning actress, who has also finished shooting for Srijit Mukherji’s upcoming Netflix series Ray.
Chakrabarti was initially nervous after he heard the script. “We have completed shooting for the film. I found it to be quite difficult but the director seems to be happy with the work. I don’t think a dark fantasy anthology film on food has been made before,” he said.
Deshpande is looking forward to appearing in Acharya’s segment as she finds working with younger artistes an interesting experience.
“Though the central theme of three of the shorts is food, the film Red Velvet focuses on bringing out the darker shades of humans through the emotions and drama associated with food,” said Sengupta. He is also sure that the film will unsettle the audience in some way or the other.
