The industry grapevine says Rahman plays himself in the movie and will be seen in an interesting cameo.

Directed by B Unnikrishnan, the film also stars Shraddha Srinath, Neha Saxena, Siddique and Nedumudi Venu. It has music by Rahul Raj. The film is gearing up for release in August 2021.

Mohanlal was recently seen in Drishyam 2 (2021), in which he returned as the popular character Georgekutty, who continues to evade arrest by the police in connection with the disappearance of a key character from the first film.

Mohanlal will soon begin work on his upcoming directorial project, the 3D film Barroz: Guardian Of D'Gama's Treasure. Calling it the beginning of a new journey, Mohanlal had said he would go behind the camera for the first time for the film that could be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. The story is set in Portugal, home of the explorer Vasco da Gama.

Mohanlal also revealed how the idea of directing a film took shape. Apparently, it was born when he and filmmaker TK Rajeev Kumar decided to make a 3D show and met Jijo Punnoose, director of India’s first fantasy 3D Film My Dear Kuttichathan (1984).
