Renee Sen-starrer Suttabaazi nominated for Filmfare Short Film Awards 2021

Filmmaker Kabeer Khurana’s Suttabaazi (2020), starring Renee Sen, is among the 30 Filmfare Short Film Awards finalists that were announced on Saturday. Audiences can vote for their favourite short until 22 March.
Renee, the daughter of actress and former Miss Universe Sushmita Sen, made her acting debut as a 19-year-old social media star Divya Kumar who is trying to maintain her status as a social influencer and hiding her smoking habit in a conservative household during the lockdown. Rahul Vohra and Komal Chhabria play her parents.
The slice-of-life short film, which examines the cracks within our families and the bonds that bridge them, has been produced by Simran Lakhanpal, Ramneek Sawhney and Pankaj Rungta and co-produced by Gurmeet Singh Gulati from Climb Media.
In a statement, Khurana said, “Truly elated to receive this honour from one of the highest echelons of Indian filmmaking — the Filmfare Awards 2021. Unbelievable. Looking forward to the voting process and the results.”
Speaking about the nomination, Lakhanpal said she was truly humbled by the announcement. "It has been a brilliant journey and a true honour to work with such a powerhouse of talent. There is no greater form of appreciation than being shortlisted by the short Filmfare awards 2021which for me is the equivalent to the Indian Oscars,”
Sawhney added, "To be woken up to the news of our production Suttabaazi being nominated in the short film category for the Filmfare Awards 2021 was not only exhilarating but truly the dawn of a dream come true! The growth in the perception of the audience and how well received our film has been is refreshing.”
