Actress Shikha Malhotra, who shared the screen with Shah Rukh Khan in Fan (2016), has been awarded the prestigious Vagdhara Nav Ratna Samman 2021.
Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari presented the award to the actress at Raj Bhavan. Former chief minister Narayan Rane and former minister of state Kripashankar Singh and the president of Vagdhara Rashtriya Manch, Vageesh Saraswat, were present at the event.
Malhotra, who is a qualified nursing officer, volunteered her services during the pandemic, before contracting COVID-19 herself. After recovering from the virus, she also suffered from paralysis stroke.
Expressing her gratitude towards the selection committee, Malhotra said in a statement, "I am very grateful to the Vagdhara Judicial Selection Committee, who has made me proud with this honour. Along with being an actress, I had higher education in nursing. It was my privilege to do something for the country during the time of the global epidemic. I will always look forward to human welfare. I want to thank my parents and fans.”
Apart from Fan, Malhotra has also starred in Running Shaadi (2017) and Kaanchli: Life in a Slough (2020).
