Actor RJ Balaji, who was last seen alongside Nayanthara in the Tamil comedy Mookuthi Amman, will star in the yet-untitled Tamil remake of Badhaai Ho, which starred Ayushmann Khurana.

As per reports, Balaji will co-direct the project with Mookuthi Amman director NJ Saravanan. Balaji will also handle the writing.

An official announcement regarding the project is yet awaited. Apparently, casting is currently underway, and the regular shooting will happen after the conclusion of the Indian Premier League this year as Balaji commentates during matches on Star Sports Tamil.

It was reported a few years ago that Boney Kapoor was all set to produce the remake. It is not known whether he’s still part of the project. Vels Films International, which had bankrolled Mookuthi Amman, is also said to produce this remake along with Boney.

Badhaai Ho is centred on a 25-year-old who finds out about his parents' unplanned pregnancy and how he deals with the situation.
