Title of Jungjauhar changed to Pawankhind; film to be released on 10 June

The historical epic will see Chinmay Mandlekar reprise his role as Shivaji Maharaj for the third time.

The title of Digpal Lanjekar’s Jungjauhar has been changed to Pawankhind. The film will be released on 10 June.

The makers have said that they always wanted Pawankhind as the title of the project, but as the name had been acquired by other producers, they went ahead with Jungjauhar. “But recently due to certain circumstances, the producers who had acquired the title Pawankhind have now allowed us to use it for our film,” said a statement from the makers of the film.

Pawankhind is the third film in Lanjekar's series of 17th century period films after Farzand (2018) and Fatteshikast (2019). The film will showcase the valour of Baji Prabhu Deshpande in the battle of Pawankhind in which 600 Maratha soldiers took on 10,000 Bijapuri soldiers led by Siddi Jauhar in Vishalgad so that Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj could make it safely from there to Panhala.

Pawankhind stars Chinmay Mandlekar, Akshay Waghmare, Astad Kale, Mrinal Kulkarni, Harish Dudhade, Ankit Mohan and Prajakta Mali.

The historical epic will see Mandlekar reprise his role as Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj for the third time. Kulkarni will also reprise her role as Shivaji’s mother Jijamata for the third film in a row.

Lanjekar has also announced the fourth film in the series titled Sher Shivraj Hai
