Danish Renzu's The Illegal is finally arriving on Amazon Prime Video on 23 March. The film was released in the United States on 6 December 2020 but is only arriving on Indian shores now. Featuring Suraj Sharma, Shweta Tripathi and Adil Hussain, the film deals with the struggles of an illegal Indian immigrant student.

Plenty of immigrants in the US want to go home but can’t, says The Illegal director Danish Renzu

The trailer for the film begins with Sharma's young student trying to define his dream of being a filmmaker. An immigrant in America, he has the unlikely opportunity to make a career. Yet, the pressure of carrying a family's hopes, the monetary struggles, the pride-swallowing experience of working odd jobs as an immigrant add to the suffering. The trailer captures the many shades of darkness that haunt immigrant students trying to make their way through the American system, with little financial backing and a lot of determination.

The trailer is well cut and backed by a powerful background score that enhances the experience. Sharma is impressive in the role, for which he has justly earned plaudits. With a cast as talented and experienced as Adil Hussain and Shweta Tripathi, the film is definitely worth the wait.

The Illegal will be streamed on Amazon Prime on 23 March.
