Hardik Mehta’s Roohi maintained a decent hold on the box office yesterday, collecting Rs1.25 crore nett on its first Monday, according to figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
Starring Rajkummar Rao, Janhvi Kapoor and Varun Sharma, the horror comedy saw a 55% drop from its first day collection (Rs2.75 crore nett on Thursday) and 40% from day two (Rs2 crore nett). Such drops on the first working day of the week are considered normal.
Roohi recorded the highest weekend collection (Rs11.35 crore nett) of all the Hindi films released after the lockdown. It has now also become the only one not to crash at the box office on its first Monday. It, therefore, now stands a chance of finishing the first week with a decent collection even with the 50% occupancy allowed in theatres in most parts of the country.
According to BoxOfficeIndia, Roohi has performed the best in Kolkata and Hyderabad. West Bengal and Telangana are among the few states to have allowed full occupancy in theatres. Generally, films perform the best in cities like Mumbai, but Maharashtra currently allows only 50% occupancy in cinema halls.
Roohi’s grand total now stands at Rs12.60 crore nett. According to a trade source, the film was made on a budget of around Rs30 crore.
